Memphis Truck Wrap: Johnny Sauter

Johnny Sauter raced back into top-10 territory in the steamy MemphisTravel.com 200 presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts on Saturday.

Memphis typically brings the early-summer heat to NCWTS competition, and Saturday was no exception. Nor was an exception Sauter’s 8th place finish in the race, his fifth top-10 finish at Memphis in eight career starts. He owns a pair of top-5 finishes at the track, and captured a Pole Award there in Nationwide Series competition in ’06.

“We’re happy to come out of Memphis with a top-10 finish, but, at the same time, we felt like we had a strong top-5 truck, you know what I mean?” Sauter said. “So it was a little disappointing from that aspect. I love the short-track racing, and I’ve always felt comfortable at Memphis. The guys just keep building great trucks for me, and we expect to be good every week. I feel like we’re closing in on taking this #13 Fun Sand Chevy to Victory Lane. All in all, it was a decent day for us, and we’ll bring our best at Kentucky in a couple of weeks.”

Sauter has now raced to four top-10 finishes in his last seven races. He was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race, and is a point from the lead in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings. (6/30/2009)(ThorSport Racing PR)
