Volunteer Racing Series releases 2010 Working Schedule

Officials with the Volunteer Racing Series have released the 2010 Working Schedule for the newly formed Late Model tour.

The regional tour, designed to give regional Late Model racers added purses and year end points fund monies, will travel to six different race tracks for ten events, and have a few TBA’s on the 2010 schedule that have not been finalized just yet.

"We started booking races in the early part of January and race tracks within a three hour radius of Knoxville, TN were contacted. We still managed to come up with a ten race event schedule at some high profile race tracks in the region, and I’m thankful to the tracks who took a chance on us," stated Series Director Chris Tilley.

The series will open its inaugural campaign at the Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA for the first of three series visits on Friday April 16th for a $3,000-to-win race during the ‘Spring Fling’ event. The series will then move back to Boyd’s Speedway in late May for a Georgia double-header paying $3,000-to-win for the ‘Georgia Memorial Race’ at Boyd’s Speedway on Friday May 28th, before making the first of three visits to the Timmy Milwood promoted North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA paying $3,000-to-win on Saturday May 29th.

The series will then take a few weeks off before heading into Southern Kentucky for the ‘Border Wars’ weekend. The series race at the Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY on Saturday Night June 26th for a $3,000-to-win event.

The series will then race at the Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA on Saturday Night August 7th, an event that will be co-sanctioned with the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series and will pay $5,000 to the event winner. More details will be released in the near future concerning the so-sanctioned weekend.

The series will then make an appearance at the Duck River Speedway in Wheel, TN for a single-night $4,000-to-win event on Saturday August 14th.

On Labor Day Weekend, the series will then move back to the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA for a $3,000-to-win event on Saturday Night September 4th.

The month of October features two events to finish up the 2010 tour, first a $3,000-to-win event at the Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday October 15th, and then the season finale on Saturday Night October 23rd, the following weekend, at the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA paying $3,000 to the event winner.

"I really want to thank each of the race tracks who stepped up and helped us put this schedule together," stated Chris Tilley. "It’s hard when you try to work around dates and other larger paying races in the area, we sure didn’t want to run on top of anything that the series drivers would want to compete in right in their back door," stated Tilley again.
