Crossville TN driver Randy Weaver opened his 2012 campaign in style on Saturday as he captured the checkers in the annual Cabin Fever 40 at the Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold GA. After tuning on his #116 GRT racecar on Friday night during the open practice session, Randy laid down the fastest lap overall of the 46 entrants during qualifying at the Chattanooga area bullring Saturday afternoon. The Fast Time Award locked Randy into the pole position for the 40-lap, unsanctioned feature event.
"Dream" got the jump at the drop of the green flag in the Cabin Fever 40 and held the top spot throughout the race. Things did get a little hairy in lapped traffic on the one-groove racing surface, but Randy was able to come out on top to earn the $3,000 payday. He reached the finish line first ahead of Ronnie Johnson, Mike Weeks, Jake Knowles, and William Thomas. (1/30/2012)(Randy Weaver Racing)
